Fun Fest

Once a year, Hermiston has something called Fun Fest.  We have never been before but didn't have anything else to do on this Saturday.  There was a bunch of booths of fun things for kids (with boring informational paper flyers for the grown ups).  The girls had a good time.  And it was, thankfully, not too hot in the morning.

We started off by playing in the huge obstacle course bounce house.

Rachel struggled at first (Megan was too little to even try), but Whitney got the hang of it pretty quick and showed Rachel what to do.

There is Whitney at the top of the steps, about to go down the slide.  We stayed here at the bounce house place for a long, long time.

At another booth, trying to hit the target.  The girls were notoriously bad at this.  It was funny to watch.

Megan tries her hand at golfing.  That was interesting as she slowly maneuvered the ball to wherever she wanted.  The hole was just for decoration.

Inside the "magic" school bus.

This one was kind of cool.  Air came out of the front to make the ball levitate a bit. Then you could hit it. Whitney thought it was neat; Rachel didn't get it.  She kept holding the ball all confused.

OMSI brought a big exhibit for the Fun Fest.  Here the kids are watching a show about the animals that were brought. Snakes aren't my thing, but it was interesting to learn more about them.

Megan looks at the iguana (lizard, gecko, something like that).

There were lots of puzzle things for the kids to try to figure out.  They were too advanced for the girls but Will seemed proud of himself for figuring out most of the puzzles.

Megan liked feeling everything on the feeling table.  There were different animal skins and shells and rocks and animal teeth that the kids were allowed to touch.

The spinning wheel that changes colors.  Your mind sees green when it was really blue and yellow.

The foot bone connects to the _____ ,'what' bone again?  Megan tried very hard to fix this dinosaur.  She put everything in all crazy, but it was fun to watch.

And we ended our adventure with some free sno cones.  I think the girls had a lot of fun.  And I happened to win a raffle and get a free baby basket.  All in all, a success.  Maybe we will even try to go back next year.

Baby News

So I had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday.

Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails
That's What Little Boys Are Made Of.

So we are having a little boy, which is exciting.  With the Rachel mix up for a boy last time I won't be for sure until our baby is born.  But this time seemed pretty obvious.  Will and I both love the name Adam.  So that is how I am going to start thinking of our baby. Little Adam Grant Keeler.  Anyway, we are excited for Thanksgiving time to meet our little guy.

Happy Birthday America

We had a good Fourth of July.  It was fun, but HOT.  Will this 100 degree weather never end?  But here are some pictures of us down in the Tri-Cities.

At my family's traditional Fourth of July Breakfast.  There was a good turnout and the food was delicious.

Megan wasn't so thrilled with the fare though.  Look at that grouchy early morning face.

But she was very happy when I gave her my watermelon rind to chew on.  Such a silly baby.

We went to the parade after breakfast.  You can see how hot it is because everyone was trying to block themselves from the sun.  It was already in the nineties by ten in the morning.  But I still really like parades.  And the girls really like candy.

Whitney went up and gave this motorcycle rider a high five. What a brave girl.

Megan's favorite part were the horses.  She really likes all animals now.

After the parade, the kids got to cool off by giving the family dog a bath.  First they had to convince the dog that it wouldn't be so horrible.

That took a lot of convincing and some running away, but Zoey got cleaned and Whitney and Rachel got wet.  A win win.

That evening we went to the stadium to watch the fireworks.  The girls gave Conner his exercise by running up and down the stairs.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of fireworks because I prefer just watching them.  Rachel only covered her ears a couple of times and Whitney only complained about being bored twice.  All in all, pretty successful.

Thanks for letting us come down to Pasco and eat your food and use your air conditioner.  We had a great time.
