A Super Fun Saturday

Some days are just extra fun.  Here are a few pictures from our super fun Saturday.

Kind of hard to tell in the picture but Whitney decided to make a library in her bedroom.  Today was the grand opening so Whitney is cutting the ribbon.

There were cookies and apple juice provided to all who came to the grand opening.

There were even some candy bar raffle prizes.

Whitney provided everyone with a library card and we all could 'check out' some books.  So that was our morning.

Then we went to the Stanfield Street Fair.  We ran into these dinosaurs right away.  Adam and Hannah were a little too nervous to get close enough for the picture.

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for dinosaur (or however that goes).  The kids were amazed at the size of the dinosaur footprints.

We did the story walk and learned a lot about many kinds of dinosaurs.

There was also an old car show.  These cars were really cool.  We did have to keep reminding the kids to look with their eyes.

One kind owner let some of the kids sit in his car.

We walked around to the different booths.  Each kid was given one dollar to buy something.

That afternoon was so warm that we broke out the swimming suits.  The kids had a blast getting soaked.

Hannah got this little pool that squirts water. It was perfect for the bottom of the slide.
Then, that evening we went to a friend's house for dinner and games.  So the day was pretty perfect.

Whitney's Birthday

Whitney turned 11 on March 5th and that weekend we had an international themed birthday party for her.

It started with a flag matching game, match the country to the flag, some of them were pretty tough

We had to include some international foods
Nussecken, from Germany, shortbread with chocolate and nuts on top.

English Trifle, pound cake, whipped cream, pudding and strawberries, this was the favorite.

Italian salad

Bread rolls with cheese sauce inside from New Zealand

Pocky

And empanadas curtesy of the Andersons, there were also some fried plantains, but the first batch ended up burned, so we spared you the photos of that.

We tried a few games from other places as well

This is Down, down, down from Australia, you play catch and then have to put your body lower and lower if you miss catches.  This is Rachel with her chin on the ground and Pam has her knee on the ground

Pilolo from Ghana is hiding an object and then having others look for it.  We used popsicle sticks

Achi, from Africa is like tic-tac-toe but the pieces can move once you put them down.

We also did pass the parcel from England

and I can't remember the name but it like rock-scissors-paper, but it is for ant, man and elephant.

I don't remember the name of this one either, but it is from Brazil and you have to hop on one foot and use your off hand to steal a bandana stuck to everyone else's back while protecting your own.  Whitney was pretty good at this one.

And we ended with a great PiƱata, and all the kids had too much candy, a great day all around!!

Valentine's Day!

I just wanted to put up a few pictures from Valentine's Day.  We had a great family day.  Church was cancelled because of the snow so we just had a nice day at home.

The day started with a yummy cinnamon roll breakfast.

We opened cards and gifts.  The kids made some cute cards for everyone.

My mom sent all the kids some books for Valentines.  This Baby Blues comic book has been a huge hit.

All the kids got a chocolate candy heart.

I love getting cards from my kids.  This one is from Rachel.

At the last Keeler Kash auction, Rachel bought making and designing a cake.  She spent a long time researching the cake she wanted to make.

Our cake didn't quite look like the penguin picture on the Internet, but we had a lot of fun.  We should have waited for the cakes to completely cool before decorating.  Oh well.  You live and learn.

It was Whitney's turn for FHE treat.  She decided to make Valentine's cookies.

They turned out pretty yummy.  We had such a fun day for Valentine's.  I sure love my family.

Hannah Turns Three!

Obviously, I am a bit behind because Hannah turned three a month ago.  But we had a fun party for Hannah the day after Christmas.  Hannah picked Mickey Mouse themed.  I loved it.  Such a cute theme for little kids.

I thought these Mickey cupcakes were so easy and turned out cute.

Other foods included Daisy's veggies; Daisy is the gardener in the show.

The kids loved the idea of cheese and quackers from Donald Duck.

And there has to be hot diggity dogs at a Mickey Mouse party.

We decided the order for the party games based on which Mickey Mouse character was found first.  I hid several characters and the kids had to look around for them.  Hannah found Donald Duck first.

For Donald Duck we played Duck, Duck, Donald.  Which is pretty much a copy of Duck, Duck, Goose.  Hannah's cousin Kat was able to play at the party with us.  That made it extra fun.

The kids had fun chasing each other.

Then came Daisy Duck.  Daisy likes to wear jewelry. So we decided to make edible necklaces.  This required a lot of adult help but the kids had fun.

It was challenging finding lots of food with holes in the middle, but we made it work.  The necklaces had a nice variety.

Some kids pretty much ate their necklaces immediately.

Then came the Toodles game.  Will got to be our Toodles pinata.

The kids would have to chase him and yell 'Oh Toodles' when they touched him.

Then Will released some candy for the kids to grab.  All the kids got lots of candy.  I think this was everyone's favorite game.

For Goofy we passed around a hat and whoever was holding the hat when the music stopped would get to pick a paper with something goofy to do written on it.

The kids liked making goofy faces and beeping a neighbor's nose.

Pluto hid lots of bones in the dirt (flour).  The kids took turns trying to find as many bones as they could in thirty seconds.  Each paper bone could be exchanged for a graham cracker bone (Scooby Snacks technically)

The little kids had bigger paper bones to find and the older kids had to search for little bones.  This was a little messy but a definite hit.

Our last game was Minnie's game.  The kids each decorated a paper bow.

Then we played pin the bow on Minnie.

Lots of pretty bows for Minnie's bow-tique.

I think the food was loved.

And I know the presents were loved.

Will made a Mickey Mouse puzzle for Hannah.

Happy Birthday Hannah!  It is hard to believe you are already three years old.
