Whitney has been having some fun times lately. We try to get her to eat whatever we are eating for dinner and it sometimes works, but mostly doesn’t. Anyway, one night we were having Navajo tacos for dinner and we were giving Whitney pieces of tomato and lettuce and whatnot, but what she really loved was the cheese.
So we put a little bit of extra cheese into a container and just let her have it.
Here Whitney is really enjoying the cheese; she has a small smile on her face and she looks like she is really glad to be having cheese all of her own.
And she was good enough to try to lick the container clean. That, obviously, didn’t work at all. But it was cute to see her try to get every last morsel of that cheese. If you look closely, you can see that Whitney managed to get a lot of cheese all over her face.
It is under her eye and across her cheek and in her hair. And there was a lot of cheese on the floor. So it made for a bit of a mess, but Whitney just loved it.
We decided to have a picnic on Saturday at the nearest park, which is only about 1/3 mile from where we live. There is a playground at the park and plenty of shade for our picnic. And it wasn’t a sweltering hot day, so we were grateful for that. And Whitney was grateful for a little dog.
This little dog was the life of the park. Whitney just loved it. Thankfully, the owner said the dog was very friendly and great with children. So we let Whitney chase after her and pet her.
The dog was mostly too quick for Whitney and was able to get away. Sometimes Whitney would get really close and she would lean down to give the dog a hug and the dog would scamper away, so Whitney ended up on the grass. And Whitney hates the feel of grass on her hands, so she would always start crying, but then she wanted to try to get the dog again. The owner even brought a little ball and the dog would play fletch. Whitney got to “throw” the ball a couple of times for the dog, but in would only go about a foot and the dog wasn’t too interested. So I threw it instead.
Will got out a new toy for Whitney that has been in our storage for awhile. We were given this by some good family friends and Whitney has been too young to really enjoy it.
It is a little rocking and spinning zebra. I don’t know why it is a zebra and not a horse like normal, but I guess it doesn’t really matter. It took a little while for Whitney to warm up to the new toy. She was only on it for a couple of seconds the first time Will put her on, but now she enjoys it more and will get herself on to rock out for a little while. We are hoping to get some batteries for it soon so it can play its music.
Well, Whitney has become the master at hiding things. The other day I was looking for her shoe so we could go outside to play and I looked everywhere. Usually, both shoes are together, but I could only find one. I kept asking Whitney where it was and finally she pulled it out of an old poptarts box that was sitting next to the garbage to be taken out. I don’t know why I didn’t think to look inside that little box. Then, one day when I went to grab a hot pad out of its drawer I discovered…
Apparently, the cookie was waiting for when Whitney wanted it later. It was pretty funny to find a half cookie in my hot pad drawer. So Whitney is always surprising us. And with all that hard work, she gets very tired.
So that is what is happening in Cheney. We are having a grand time watching Whitney grow and explore. Take care.
