Rhode Island Part 1

We went on a trip to Rhode Island as a graduation vacation. It was so much fun to see Will's parents and for them to meet Whitney. Thank you mom and dad Keeler for the exciting trip; it was great being able to go to all kinds of fun places with you. And the weather was very good while we were there; the humidity remained pretty low, so we were grateful. We are probably going to post all the Rhode Island pictures in two blogs, so here is the first half of our trip.
Here we are at the Breakers mansion where the Vanderbilts use to live. I guess a lot of really wealthy people would get summer homes in Rhode Island. The tour of this mansion was simply lovely.

One day we went to Lexington and Concord to see some of the historical sights because Courtney loves looking at where history happened. We got to stand in the spot where the shot heard around the world was fired. There was a nice museum commemorating Revolutionary figures. If you cannot tell, this is Paul Revere in the background. The pictures are coming...the pictures are coming.

Afterward, we went to the Harvard art museum. It was cool just walking around Harvard with all the smart people. We only got in a little trouble while trying to feed Whitney while we were there. Oops, water and art museums don't mix. Can you guess what this is? Neither can we, but it was in the modern art section. We are also standing by the John Harvard statue. We had to squeeze past a couple other people milling around to get this picture, so I hope you appreciate it. We only look a little tired.

Plymouth has a big imitation of the Mayflower ship called Mayflower II that you are allowed to take a tour on. The second ship also made the trip from England to America and everything inside looks like it might have back in the 1600's. There were even guides on board dressed like long ago to answer questions and whatnot. That was fun to see and fun to tour. I don't think I could have been happy being stuck on a small boat for 66 days, but I am grateful for the immigrants who came over. The second picture has both Whitney and Will looking into the camera at the same time while standing next to Plymouth Rock. The rock is a lot smaller than I had imagined.

Whitney was very good for our trip. She liked to smile at everyone, even complete strangers. She sure knows how to turn on her charm when she wants something. We better watch out when she gets a little older to make sure we don't spoil her senseless.

And Whitney loved grandma and grandpa Keeler. Everyone had a good time together.

We will post some more pictures in a couple of days. I hope everyone is having as fun of a summer as we are. Now it is time to get busy finding a job. Take care.
