Rhode Island Part 2

There was too much to put in one blog post, so now we will tell you more about our vacation. Will's brother, Matt, lives in New York and we hadn't seen him since our wedding, so we wanted to take a trip down there while we had the opportunity. It was a great time to meet his sweet fiancee Karen as well.
Sorry this picture isn't the best, but it was the only one we got. Here we are at the bottom of the Gugennheim (sp?) Museum. We weren't allowed to take any pictures of the exhibits, but it was an interesting museum.

We also went to the American Museum of Natural History, which is the one that Night at the Museum is based off of, so that was neat. Whitney and I are standing next to a meteorite that landed in Oregon. The museum had lots of animals and information about different cultures. It is a fascinating museum that you could really spend all day and not see everything.

And you cannot go to New York City without seeing the Statue of Liberty. We got a lot of pictures of the statue since we want proof for Whitney when she is older that she really did see the statue. Here is one picture that we like of us.

Will even got this fun picture with the sun behind the torch, so it looks like the torch is on fire.

We went to Ellis Island afterwards. It was good to remember our heritage. There is a really cool exhibit there that is half flag and half people. I tried to get a picture that showed both sides, maybe you can see it. Look real close.

Mean old Courtney got Will to put his head in a cut-out image without telling him what it was first. So we have a picture of Will with his head in the barbie, but I promised to not put it on the blog, but we do have Whitney's face. There is an exhibit of barbies from around the world that was actually kind of cool.

So New York was a lot of fun. On our last day in Rhode Island, we went to the 4th of July Day parade in Bristol (which was actually held on the fifth, but who's counting?) This parade has been going on for 225 years, which is amazing. It is the longest-running 4th of July parade in the country. Here are a couple of pictures. It was Whitney's first parade.

We also have the Raytheon float that was created by the Will's dad's company. It won best in parade.

And one contestant from the show Amazing Race was there. So we had to take a picture of him as proof for all of Courtney's family who loves that show.

It was such an enjoyable vacation. Thank you Mom and Dad Keeler for the wonderful trip.

P.S. If you want a picture of Will's head in the barbie to be used as bribery or something, just contact Courtney, she can send you one.

Looks like a fun trip! I grew up in RI and haven't seen all of those sites! It was fun to see your mom and dad when we were there in June.

I've been to NYC so many times and I have never been to the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island! What a shame.

I can't believe you've got a little girl, that's so awesome! I have Melissa on Facebook but I've never found you unless I'm not looking for the right name...are you still out in Utah? My little sister-in-law is going to be going to BYUI hopefully in the winter.

It's so wonderful to find you! I'm totally following your blog. :D
